Ursula Hess is professor of psychology at the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin and the University of Quebec at Montreal. Her research program is centered on the communication of emotions. In particular, she focuses on the social factors that influence this process such as gender and intergroup relations. She investigates the influence of facial appearance on the perception of emotions in men and women as well as on cross-cultural emotion communication.
