Rik Lander

Artist and academic

Artist and Senior Lecturer in Creative Media Design at the University of the West of England, Bristol. Rik has over thirty years experience in creating multi-screen installations, interactive media and drama. During the 1980s he was half of the Duvet Brothers creating Scratch Videos, which were characterised by found footage, Super-8 film and processed video. In the 1990s, Rik began exploring the possibilities of participatory narratives using online devices and platforms. His current work Job Vacancy: Echoborg is a collaboration with the natural language processing company, Elzware Ltd and focuses on the creation of a chatbot for live theatre. The piece, which is an early stage of development, will be been presented at STATE as a work in progress which the STATE audience can contribute towards.
